The carbohydrates in white bread is what causes the weight gain. On the other hand, bread is considered to be one of the best weight loss foods around, but only if eaten the right way. Instead of purchasing plain white bread, choose 100% whole wheat with extra fiber instead. With bread, you can create several healthy meals from fat-free sandwiches to low-fat homemade french toast.
