Slimming Diet Review: The Zone Diet

The man behind the highly successful “The Zone” slimming diet is Dr Barry Spears, a research scientist by profession. He authored the book “The Diet Zone” back in 1995 and the book has been very well received by the masses. The diet book became the guide for a very popular slimming diet program, The Zone” Diet. People who have used and tested his own special technique of losing weight have testified to the effectiveness of this method and techniques. Generally, the results were consistent and most people manage to lose weight when following this unique slimming diet program.
The Zone diet works to balance the hormone levels in the body. A balanced hormone level would produce a healthy, trim   body. An imbalanced meal of hormone would lead to illness, general feelings of apathy and sluggishness and weight gain. The metabolism would tend to be affected by the unhealthy environment and the natural fat burning mechanism would be severely impaired as a result. According to the principles of The Zone diet, this is the reason behind the state of overweight and why people pack on those pounds.

The first step is to curb the excessive carbohydrate intake which includes pizza, pasta, cakes and cookies and your Grandma’s delicious puddings. Eating carbohydrates in large quantities is unhealthy. It can skyrocket your blood sugar levels and throw your system into an unbalanced state.

The Zone Diet works by regulating and stabilizing the blood sugar. High blood sugar levels can lead to diabetes and coronary heart diseases.  Plus, the right sugar levels in the blood would ensure a consistent energy supply that lasts throughout the day. There would be less likelihood of you binging on food as ideal sugar levels on the blood would regulate the cravings and remove the urge to satisfy your desire for sweet foods in the day.

The Zone diet makes use of 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein foods and 30% should be made up of healthy fats.  Always begin your slimming ides about an hour after you wake up in the morning and spread the meals into five separate servings throughout the day. Do not space those meals for more than five hours at a time. Keep your system well moisturized and hydrated by drinking at least eight glasses of water each day.

Going on this diet is no excuse for not exercising. Choose physical activities that you love such as brisk walking, manual work, household chores or stair climbing. The idea is to avoid a sedentary lifestyle and try to engage in any kind of physical activity that can help burn off fat and increase the body’s fat burning metabolism.
