If you are planning on following a low calorie diet to lose that extra weight there are a few things that you need to know, you really need to read on to realise why a low calorie diet will not work as well as you would hope!!
At Idiot Diet we get a lot of people telling us that they followed a low calorie diet for a fair few weeks and that they have not lost very much weight, and because of this they think that losing weight is almost impossible and they have given up all together!!
The main reason why a low calorie diet does not work is that when you eat low calorie foods you body is still hungry! You start to feel ill and become tired all the time. You think that maybe you should do some exercise to help the weight loss but you just don’t have the energy to do any in fact you will find that you have very little energy to do anything. The reason to this is because metabolic rate is not very high.
So the trick to losing weight successfully comes down to just two things and you need to think about these every time you get something to eat.
1.You should not be scared of calories, you should not avoid them, your body needs calories to supply it with the necessary energy and nutrition. Your body will increase your metabolic rate when it gets enough food and when this happens you will see a weight loss.
However there are bad calories and these are the ones that you find in Junk foods. You wont get fatter eating 10 apples a day you will get fat eating 10 burgers a day, even though an apple has 100 calories!
You see what you need to do is avoid empty calories which are your junk foods and you need to eat more negative calorie foods like fruit and vegetables. A negative calorie is not that there are no calories in the food it just means that for your body to digest them it will just use more calories than what they supply. So basically the end result is that an apple may be 100 calories but digesting that one apple could burn up to 120 calories and this is what will ultimately get you losing weight fast.
2. Building muscles is very important for weight loss, did you know that to ensure you keep your body in tip top shape muscles will burn a lot of your calories? What I am basically saying is that the more lean muscles your body has the quicker you will lose the fat! Eating food that is high in protein is a great way to build lean muscles also doing simple work outs whether at the gym or at home is another. The othergood thing about eating high protein foods is you won’t feel that hungry and the possibility of over eating is almost not going to happen.
You see when eating low calorie foods you are not able to build lean muscles and in fact you lose muscles. So when your body does not have enough lean muscles it just cannot burn fat since your metabolic rate remains at a very unhealthy low level. This is another reason why a low calorie diet doesn’t always work.
A lot of the low calorie diets that are doing the rounds only help you lose muscles and water and this can mislead some people into thinking that they have lost weight however they have not lost any weight as the most important thing you need to lose to get slimmer and that is the FAT and until you can lose the fat you will struggle to become fit.
