With Christmas just around the corner, it is important to keep track of your weight loss goals so they don’t go haywire and cause you to gain unnecessary weight during the holiday season. It is very common to be lured into temptations when the holiday season is here. There are just too many tantalizing dishes around that becomes very difficult to resist the urge to splurge on those foods more than you should. After all, who can ever resist that delicious pudding your Grandma spent so much effort on or that sumptuous turkey dish your Mother prepared just for you?

This is the time when you have to answer that one all important question.  What matters the most here? Do you want to satisfy your short term desire for those delicious foods and suffer months of regrets and anger with yourself when you discovered that you are way over the limits where calorie count is in question?  Weren’t you supposed to omit those carbohydrates out of your menu? Why did you get two large helpings of that delicious pumpkin pudding when you aren’t even supposed to touch it? Now you look as pathetic as a fat porpoise stuck on a deserted beach in the middle of nowhere.

Before you land into this pathetic state, it is best to follow a few helpful tips which can help prevent you from over eating during the Christmas party or any form of celebration where great food is served in generous amounts. Let’s find out!

Tip#1: Preparation

Okay, this is one useful tip you can implement. Before you step out of your home to get to that party, drink a large glass of water and eat a generous helping of fruits and vegetables. Fill up your belly so you don’t feel hungry when you leave your home.  Eat plenty of fresh fruits that has fiber in it. It helps fill you up.

Tip#2: Stay away from the Food

This is another neat trick to use. Once you get there, fill up your plate with salad, some protein meals such as that luscious steak, or that tantalizing turkey slices.  The get away from the food as far away as you can. Do not hang around where the food is or you would not be able to resist the temptation to treat yourself to a second helping.

Tip#3: Chat with a Friend

If you can with a friend then spend most of the time chatting on your favorite topics or anything exciting that can take your attention away from food. If you are alone, then join into a group and participate in their jovial conversation.

Tip#4:  Drink Water

Stay away form alcohol or soda that has way too many calories in it. It doesn’t fill up or quench your thirst and you would end up with a few calories more than you should be taking.

Tip#5:  Remember your Goals

It helps to remind yourself of your goals constantly. Affirm those goals and visualize yourself getting into shape and looking your best very soon in the future.
