shane niemeyer.jpg

The first time, as Shane Niemeyer thought Triathlon Ironman, he had simply tried to hang.

In 2003, Niemeyer was a 27-year-old homeless heroin addict in a prison in Idaho, awaiting sentencing for drug possession and burglary. Guards in a straitjacket, and he said he used his feet to turn the pages of the endurance sport magazine article.

Since its release in March 2004 in a program of drugs in prison, he completed eight racing distance Ironman, covering a combined Bema kilometres (226.3) in each. He placed 19th race of 2009 Ironman Wisconsin, close to 2,400 competitors. October 8, Niemeyer has finished his first race in Kona, Hawaii Ironman World Championship.

A remarkable achievement, of course, but not his most formidable of the year. Who came Dec. 10, when a judge Idaho finally released from probation, marking what Niemeyer said, this is the first time in 15 years it has been in jail, or under the supervision of the State.

Niemeyer, who now lives in Boulder, Colorado, where he is an strength and conditioning coach and public speaker, said,

it is good to look back and think that the way in which human beings humans are capable of things extraordinary.

There was something for the triathlon, and commitment, that they demanded, that triggered a switch within the it – perhaps it was his way out. Perhaps he could spend his days of swimming, cycling and running, rather than to fight Honduran drug traffickers, or Rob companies to feed his habit of $400 per day.

Behind bars, Niemeyer should stay fit by running in the courtyard of the small, rectangular, the County jail or State prison track.

He says that he can now see how training partners have relied on the same personality traits of neurotic, excessive, who once towards him to drugs turn into successful athletes.

A fine line separates our our demons angels, I see in the characteristics who went the other way in me. “

It is always comforting to hear stories of what humans are capable of.” When things seem hopeless in life, it is inspiring to know that these obstacles can be overcome.

As we come in 2011, comfort in the fact that you have much control on your way. People like Shane Niemeyer show that we can accomplish many things, even when life seems dark.

The Mediterranean diet to prevent Mental decline

BRAINSLUG.jpg

Eat a traditional Mediterranean diet can help people maintain better brain health as they grow older. According to a new study.

The Mediterranean diet is originating in the countries in southern Europe, especially Greece, Crete and Italy and is rich in fruits, vegetables, wine, whole grains, beans, nuts, fish and olive oil, but low in saturated fats, such as eggs, meat and dairy products.

The Mediterranean diet is often linked to reduced health, such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease risk.

Research, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, scientists examined the eating habits and cognitive function of 4,000 Midwest, 65 and older and evaluated their membership in a traditional Greek diet.

According to the World Health Organization (who), the mental decline of age-related diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, effect of 18 million people worldwide. WHO estimates that number will jump to 34 million by 2025. Poor diet, especially diets low fat healthy, Omega-3 fatty acids, was involved in the increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

In the new study, researchers found Americans living in the Midwest eating a traditional Mediterranean diet can have brains that age slower, compared to people eating habits.

Participants study mental decline was assessed every three years. Individuals tested mathematical scientists and word memory. The results show people more closely adhering to the traditional Mediterranean diet had slower cognitive over time, even after accounting for educational attainment.

Researchers speculate the Mediterranean, diet staples such as fruits and vegetables – that are rich in antioxidants — can help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation of the brain; a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease

However, the Mediterranean diet includes foods rich in salt, such as the salt-cured olives, capers and anchovies. Increased sodium consumption has been linked to stroke and hypertension.

3 day diet to lose 10 pounds

Don’t try unless you’re really desperate. I did this to look great on a first date. Back on weight since I eat normal again. So here’s what I did

food: no solid food. Just drink the master cleanse lemonade six times per day, lemon juice, syrups, maple + Cayenne

Fatburner: none. 3 days is too short to recorder away to work. I’ve taken water pills (diuretics). Pee as crazy for two days. There is no excess water = slimmer body. Bodybuilder more do so before the contest so that they look better on the stage

Laxatives: my stomach felt much flatter after I poop everything. It was painful, but it’s worth.

Yeah that’s how I lost 10 pounds in 3 days. This is not healthy at all, but it works.

The life you want – Bob Greene

the-life-you-want-bob-greene.jpgRight hand man of Oprah, Bob Greene, is back with his new book the life want it: get motivated, lose weight and Be Happy.

In life you want, Bob teamed up with Ann Kearney-Cooke, psychologist and nutritionist, Janis Jibrin to create a plan to overcome emotional obstacles that prevent people to exercise and healthy eating.

Bob Greene believes that the emotional component to weight loss is critical if success must be achieved and maintained.

“The importance of a strong motivation factor is something that I’ve seen repeatedly among my clients.” And research backs me up. A study in the Portugal divided into two groups obese women. All two standard receipt of advice on nutrition and exercise, but a group has also encouraged to develop staff, emotional incentive to stay active. After a year, the Group has incorporated the psychological component had lost an average of 12 pounds of body fat, compared to only under three pounds for other volunteers. What I find particularly interesting in this research, it shows that the inner motivation can be acquired. “

New book by Bob Greene is divided into five sections:
Rewire your brain to overcome overeating.Conquer the aversion exercise.Taming the sugar, fat and salt cravings.Transform your body image.Increase your happiness.
His team provides many strategies and suggestions for readers achieve the above goals in life you want. The book also includes diet and exercise plans to help address dieter physical aspects of dieting as emotional.

The life want it Bob Greene seems like a good program for those who lack motivation and emotional food issues. Bob Greene is highly respected in the diet and fitness industry and has helped millions of people live healthier, especially with the exhibition presented by The Oprah Winfrey Show and O Magazine.

Coming from a background of mental health, I would argue that some of the concepts of the book are a bit simplistic. Many people have deep emotional problems which prevent them from losing weight, even less to be happy.

The life you want will probably lack the tools and support necessary to assist persons with deeper problems, which may require counseling relationship therapy to see such emotional changes.
